At the Runner's Den we pride ourselves on carrying a diverse selection of premium running shoes that meet our strict standards of quality and performance. Asics, Brooks, Mizuno, New Balance, Saucony are a few of the quality brands we carry. We guarantee we will put you in the shoe that meets your unique needs. See below for a detailed description of the steps we go through to ensure the right fit!

Step 1 One of our well trained staff will discuss your level of physical activity and what you plan to do with the shoes. This will help us determine the shoe that will best fit your needs, so you can perform at your best.

Step 2 We strongly recommend you bring in your used footwear. This allows us to examine your wear pattern and will help us show you what the differences are between the old and new shoe. We can examine any issues you had with the old shoes and figure out if any changes need to be made.

Step 3  We will analyze your feet while standing and walking. This will help us find the proper shoe for your foot!

Step 4 Every brand fits differently so we no longer measure your foot. Your pre-existing footwear will guide our initial selection! For 5-10km runners we recommend half a thumb width from the end of shoe. For those doing half to full marathon distance, we fit a thumb width from the end of shoe. It is very important that the forefoot does not feel pinched in the shoes. Your toes need room to splay as you transition through your gate.

Step 5 With new shoes on your feet, the Runners' Den fit expert will go though a review of a proper fit and provide a technological understanding of the shoe.

Step 6 The next step is to take your shoes for a run! Head outside and try it out. We will have checked the sizing once again and watched you stand and walk in the shoes, so now it's time to really test them out. The expert will watch you move in the shoes to determine if the shoes are providing the correct amount of support.  Remember each brand will fit differently and the cushioning will feel different.

Step 7 The selection process may take some time so please allow yourself enough time to be able to fully try each shoe out.  The best shoe will be the one that looks the best to the fit expert and which also feels the best to you.  It is a team effort to get a good fit.

Step 8 Finally you have a pair you love, they should be a great fit and feel great all over. If for whatever reason you have questions regarding your shoes after you have purchased them, please don't hesitate to come back in or give us a call. Our promise is that you and your feet are totally happy!
